OUR STORY
3 friends running a micro roastery in Tampere, Finland expanding your view of coffee.
It all started about 8 years ago with an appetite for a good siemasu (sip). We tasted hundreds of different coffees from hundreds of specialty coffee roasteries around the world, and our understanding of coffee grew with every sip. This led us to the conclusion that everyone deserves great coffee. So, we bought a coffee roaster and got to work to give you the coffee you deserve.
PHILOSOPHY
Enhancing coffee’s natural characteristics is embedded into our philosophy. We work exclusively with high-quality and sustainably produced coffee, enabling us to roast with a focus on the coffee’s origin and bring out its natural flavours. This is also why we refuse to burn our coffee in the roaster by going dark; rather, we choose to live in the light. Our mission is to expand your understanding of coffee, treat your taste buds, and raise the standards of the coffee you drink.
Coffee is a complex fruit with twice as many aromas as wine, and our objective is to find the perfect balance between brightness, clarity, and sweetness, which we believe best expresses the coffee we select.

Co-founder, Head of Operations
My name is Tommi. I’m a husband and a father, and I love spending time in nature, playing disc golf, reading books, and, of course, brewing and sipping coffee. My role at Siemasu is to ensure that our business keeps moving forward and that we offer great coffee in our lineup.
When I visit a coffee shop, I usually order a flat white and a hand brew. If I’m in a wild mood, I’ll go for an espresso.

Co-founder, Head of Roasting
I’m Mikko, and my role at Siemasu mainly revolves around the roasting process itself. I enjoy perfecting roasting profiles and discovering new flavours from exceptional coffees. Other than that, I love my beautiful wife, doing triathlons and spending time out in nature.
My typical coffee shop order would probably be a fruity pour-over.

I’m Elias, a full-time tattoo artist in Helsinki. I love art, music, books, good food and football. One might say that I'm also a coffee enthusiast, and my main role at Siemasu is creative things and brand, aka making things look pretty.
At a cafe, I usually order a flat white in the afternoon and a filter in the mornings.

Sustainability and Quality
We care about great coffee and the planet. That’s why we use eco-friendly roasting, reduce waste, and support responsible farming. We believe good coffee should do good, too. We roast with the Aillio Bullet R1, which is small but powerful. An electric coffee roaster provides responsive and consistent temperature control, ensuring uniform roasting and improved flavour profiles. Electric coffee roasters offer other key benefits, such as the environmental impact of not relying on fossil fuels and avoiding combustion byproducts. Additionally, they are often more energy-efficient and can be powered by renewable energy, contributing to a lower overall carbon footprint.
